If you could be a character in any book or movie who would it be? Describe the dream from the beginning to the end and try not to leave out any details. If you had your choice of living anywhere in the world where would it be?

Most children have a natural creative streak, but as anyone who has tried it knows, getting an idea out of your head and onto a piece of paper can be very challenging!

You might even find that you enjoy teaching writing to children (gasp! composing a chronological narrative and expressing an opinion–but should be given flexibility in how that writing is produced.For example, first graders may construct a narrative by drawing a series of pictures, or convey an opinion by dictating their thoughts to a teacher.Creative writing can be used to explain many types of writing.It is basically writing that lets the writer express themselves.With help from an adult, first graders can begin to understand the research process.These prompts may be best utilized in a group setting, with a parent or teacher leading the student(s) through the research process using a single source (e.g. I suggest trying different approaches throughout the year to help the children discover what methods work best for them. Some children really struggle with finding enough to say that they think is worthwhile. Not necessarily an angry one, but definitely a depressed ghost. Talk about it and try to remember where that present is today. The more you prepare your students for the task at hand, the better they will respond and be eager to share. Tell about your feelings during the pig-out session and how you feel the rest of the night (and the following day). Why might that ghost be sad and how can you help him?
