Thematic Essay Rubric

To get a 3 on the exam (which still gives you course credit at a lot of colleges), you only need a 3 on the DBQ.

Thematic essays will require students to write a coherent essay that has an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion.

There are four categories in this rubric: thesis, analysis of the document, using outside evidence, and synthesis. don’t have to get a perfect score on the DBQ to get a five on the AP.

Somewhere in the 5-6 range can definitely get you there.
