George Orwell, the influential political writer of the twentieth century, left the well paid job of Imperial police in Burma and went back home to inform his parents that he wanted to become a writer instead.
Ignoring their puzzled reactions over his predicament, he spent the next couple years in Paris and London hoping to find a moderate living and a lot of time for pondering and writing.
Instead he found a little reconciliation with Poverty and Boredom; perceived the perks of being a vagabond; shaped some of his views which would later develop into brave political ideas eventually helping him remember today.
Before coming up with the semi-autobiographical novel about rotting among the downtrodden in Paris and London, he published short stories and essays from his experiences as Imperial Police in East India.
