Tema ovog diplomskog rada jest opis multicast mrežnog sustava. U prvoj cjelini rada govori se općenito o multicast mrežnim sustavima, te se navode njihove karakteristike i temeljna obilježja i uspoređuje se pojam multicasta s unicastom.
U drugome dijelu rada govori se o IP multicastu (Internet protocol multicast) – o njegovom korištenju, adresiranju, IGMP-u (Internet Group Management Protocol) te o vrstama algoritama i protokola za usmjeravanje.
